A blend of three part harmonies mixed with keyboards and percussion provide a soulful and high impact repertoire making Gen-R-8 one of Newcastle’s finest vocal acts.
The trio comprises the talents of Yianni Moratidis,Peter Young. Each member brings a style and strength that complements one another, providing the audience with something different to the usual musical act.
Since formed, Gen-R-8 has perfected its sound with regular performances around the club scene in Sydney and Newcastle. The trio delivers a repertoire of soulful Funk, Swing, Rock and R’n’B.
Yianni Moratidis (Vocals / Keys ) has been performing on stage since the age of 5, and can blend his voice to suit any style of music ranging from R&B to Jazz, Pop and Rock n Roll. He has performed Australia wide, performing at events such as the opening of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, as well as the USA with the Young Stars Talent Team. People might remember Yianni from local trio DTY and another successful trio, THREE 27, who recently toured the UK and released the single Trust in Me, and also supported Vanessa Amorossi on her national tour.
Peter Young (Percussion/Vocals) With over 3,000 performance as a professional musician, Peter brings a wealth of musical experience and energy to Gen-R-8. He as a session player and on call musician, has performed on stage with numerous national and international acts, covering many styles of music.
Peter has recorded several albums, appeared on TV and Radio, received ARIA nominations, and is well known for his Jazz talents with the multi award winning band The Cool Dudes. Peter is a well respected and accomplished Drummer/Percussionist whom through his enthusiasm adds a dynamic groove to every Gen-R-8 live performance.
